Are you interested in making a difference in the civil engineering community and beyond? We encourage you to get involved with the ASCE San Jose Younger Member Forum (SJ YMF) and join our board.
Our executive board oversees the ASCE SJ YMF’s mission, strategic direction, and financial health. The team provides governance, sets policies, approves budgets, and supports fundraising efforts. They work closely with committee chairs and members to ensure the organization is effectively serving its community and operating ethically and efficiently. In addition to the executive board, committees – led by the committee chair – take on the planning and execution of special events and activities.

Term Duration
The President-Elect, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, and Director are elected annually by the membership. While the Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, and Director each serve one-year terms, the President-Elect commits to a three-year leadership progression, serving one year each as President-Elect, President, and Past President.
Committee chairs are appointed by the Executive Board. All committee chairs serve a one-year term with the exception of the webmaster which requires a two-year commitment. Terms follow the ASCE year which begins October 1st and ends September 30th.
Nominations and Elections
Nominations for Executive Board and Committee Chair positions open in late spring. The nomination window for Executive Board roles typically closes first, followed by elections if there are multiple candidates. For positions with a single nominee, the nomination is shared with the membership for review. Elections, when held, run for a period of three weeks. After the election concludes, the Executive Board convenes to review committee nominations. Committee Chair appointments are finalized and announced in mid to late July.

ASCE SJ YMF is currently accepting nominations for prospective officers for the 2025-2026 ASCE year. Please complete the pertinent form below before the posted deadline. Elections for the Executive Board will take place in late June.
